We build ‘em like they used to: We shape, contour, sand and finish our bodies and pickguards by hand like they did back in Fullerton and Kalamazoo, while globally sourcing our necks, pickups and hardware to keep costs down while delivering a vintage feel. No, we can’t match the consistency of mass-produced corporate instruments with their automation and economies of scale. But each Baltamont guitar is a one-of-a-kind work of art, priced for the working musician.
‘Futuristic’ designs NOT from the last century: Aside from occasional tweaks in colors and electronics, most corporate guitars were designed more than 50 years ago. Even most ‘boutique’ builders mostly crank out very fancy versions of them. Our models are brand new, incorporating vintage styling cues with unique designs that truly stand out in the crowd.
Not just an off-the-shelf guitar: Before we ship any instrument, our head builder spends hours inspecting, testing, tweaking and polishing, to ensure it arrives with maximum tone and playability. Your guitar will arrive rigorously set up, polished and freshly strung.
Made in the land of Poe, Cal, Omar and Divine: Baltamont Guitars began in a little yellow house in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore and is committed to playing our little role in America’s next great comeback story. The Charm City’s legacy of poets, pirates and iconoclasts and its natural beauty are reflected in everything from our model names to our colorful and quirky designs.
Clear, Aggressive Tone: We’ve spent way too many hours geeking out over esoteric details like potentiometer and capacitor values so you don’t have to. Many guitars’ electronics are designed to choke out high frequencies. Baltamont guitars use components that produce a balanced tone with a healthy growl down low and high-end clarity that lets notes ring out with even the gnarliest fuzz.
Girls Rock! Women and girls account for half of new guitar buyers, but you’d hardly know that looking at the offerings from the big guitar companies. Our radically offset bodies, slim neck profiles and available short scale lengths were designed to be comfortable for women, young and all smaller guitarists.
Versatile Electronics: Humbucker equipped guitars feature a coil tap switch, letting you choose between single-coil rasp and humbucker roar. Twelve Strings feature a phase switch for bright, almost sitar-like tones with both pickups active. Our tone controls have a wide sweep, letting you dial in your perfect tone.
